As the holiday of Thanksgiving grows closer I think of how I can give thanks to my community. Whether it’s a simple compliment or a more serious Giving of thanks it all matters. Thanksgiving remains one of my favorite holidays because of how it brings people together. My Dad is almost never home during the week as he is always traveling for business. My sister goes to boarding school and is only home during the holidays. On thanksgiving my family and I will get to sit down as a family and have a delicious meal as we talk in reflection of how our lives are going. There is nothing that makes me happier than seeing my whole Family in the presence of happiness, and without conflict. My sister and I have created a great bond throughout our 13 years together and it’s always a great time to be around her. Spending time with Family is a great thing to do to show you care. Spending time in your family rather than hiding away in your room during thanksgiving shows that you are giving thanks and respecting what your parents give to you. Such as a roof over your head, food, electricity, and help in any way. My parents take thanksgiving pretty seriously in that it’s a time to be spent together and in reflection. Giving thanks is one of the most powerful things you can do. When giving thanks your given the power to change someone’s day or possibly week. Thanksgiving is a great time to see who really cares and who doesn’t. So as Thanksgiving comes closer I’ll remind you to give thanks, show that you care and be respectful.
