Everyone that has read a good piece of literature has taken something away form the book. weather it be an emotion or a different opinion about a subject everyone has done it.

Over my seventh grade summer, my school Fenn required me to read a book “A Long Walk to Water.” This book taught me to be more aware of the struggles going on in third world countries.A Long Walk to Water made me think and acknowledge more about third world countries in a way I never had before. Hearing about how some kids in these countries have to walk miles upon miles everyday, all just for a bucket of water, and how all I have to do is turn the facet handle. Thinking about this so much made me even bring it up in a few conversations with my family.

The book “ A Long Walk to Water.” Was a book assigned over my seventh grade summer by my school Fenn, we were supposed to read the book and take notes so we could write a reflection on it when we came back to school. The first few weeks of summer I completely ignored the book, but then near the middle of summer I picked it up and read the first few chapters. I immediately got hooked into the detail and concept of the book, it was so interesting how the main character in the book “Salva’s” life was so different from mine.

After I finished the book, I went online and searched up all sorts of things, like pictures of what the kids looked like carrying water on their heads for miles, and I read articles about foundations that try and help. I learned on how much different their world is than mine, and how much harder it is to be those kids than it is to be me.

It is so weird to me how a fem months ago I was absolutely clueless about how third world countries, and how spoiled I am to not even acknowledge their struggles and suffering. But now today I am fully aware and informed about how their world is harder and what we can do to help.

Everyone needs some time off, and when we take time off we all go to our one little happy place.

After a long hard week of school, I love to go up to Vermont to relax and ski. On the long car ride up to VT me and my family always stop at five guys try grab a quick juicy burger, and an ice cold soda. After we arrive at the house me and my friend Harry always watch a horror movie that won’t let you sleep for at least a week.

In the den of my house, me and my friend Harry always watch a horror movie at night, like Lights Out or Annabelle. It’s kind of like a tradition. We love scaring ourselves so bad that we can’t sleep that night.

I was in the kitchen with my friend Harry. We were both getting massive bowl of chocolate ice cream to help us with the stress we were both about to go through. As we walked over to the den I imagined it was like an action movie of a slow walking scene like right before the hero’s fight the bad guys. As we settled into out blankets and sunk into the couch, we turned on the TV and found the horror movie we were going to watch,”lights out.”this was the movie we had avoided for so long, because we heard it was so scary. We hit “Play” and the movie started.

This place is very special to me because it gives me a special feeling of being safe and warm. I love being tied up on the hot blankets being scared but also being there with a friend. Knowing that I get to go skiing with Harry the next morning is probably one of the greatest feelings ever.

A place is only as good as the people in it.

                                           Family will be there

A happy family is but and early heaven

                                  ~ Shutterfly

If you feel yourself having a bad day or going through a rough time know that your family, weather it is a mom, dad, uncle, or aunt will be there to be lift you up at some point in that day.

One day, I was having one of the worst days in all of worst day history. As I sunk into the soft cushion of the bus seat heading home from school on my birthday and had just received a C on a math test. As I walked into my house with my head down, I head a very loud buzzing noise followed by a “ Surprise.” All of my family was standing waiting for me with presents and balloons.

As soon I a took one step into my house I was immediately showered with gifts and cake from my family who had been waiting to surprise me, because they knew I would be feeling down about having school on my birthday.

As I twisted the cold wet doorknob and stepped onto the grey tile on the floor of my house. My ears started ringing after the supper sonic high pitched “surprise” my family gave me. They were all there my mom, dad sister, brother, and even my dog, waiting for me with gifts cake and a whole lot of love.

I never really understood how much time and effort my family sacrificed to lift me up because they knew I would be feeling down, after having school on my birthday and make that special moment happen. This to me really exemplifies how much family cares for each other and will lift each other up.

This experience really showed me to never forget that my family will always be there for me when I’m down and I should always be there for my family when there down.
