January 2019

Wrestling is a sport that you either hate or love. I tried wrestling last year and when I went to the first practice and absolutely hated it. I went home and and immediately knew that I was doing hockey instead. This year I knew I could not do hockey again because I would need to make varsity. I really didn’t want to do basketball so I decided to give wrestling another shot.

This time I absolutely loved practice, I don’t know what changed but suddenly I knew that I would keep doing wrestling. So far this year I think I have improved and have had a lot of fun. I had my first match on Wednesday and got pinned easily by my, fierce and agressive, openent. On Friday I had a second match, I was extremely nervous because we were wrestling our school rivals and everyone had told me we were going to get crushed. I got lucky and was able to beat my openent 6-5. I was really happy that I was able to win and I am excited to continue wrestling this year.

Literary Analysis The Hobbit

Reading A Classic

Reading has always seemed like something that I have to do. So far  The Hobbit has been a book that I want to read and it doesn’t seem like homework to do. As I started reading I was excited because I had loved the movie and was hoping for the book to be the same. Although I know how the story ends I still don’t remember all the details along the way, as I got further into the book I suddenly wanted to read.  The Hobbit had sparked some excitement in me that made me want to get further in the book and keep reading. When Fitz my English teacher assigned us with reading a classic I was definitely not overwhelmed with joy. As we went around the table I heard someone say they were reading The Hobbit. I had remembered watching the movies a few years ago and I absolutely loved them I suddenly had a new mindset about this assignment and was ready to start reading. As I read the book on my couch with a bowl of ice cream in my lap I started to enjoy reading. I have really enjoyed reading The Hobbit; subsequently, next time I am challenged with reading a classic a will on my eyes instead of close them, I was not sure if I was going to be able to relate to the characters but to my surprise I found many similarities from our class to the dwarves. Reading The Hobbit has been difficult but has been worth it. I didn’t know tha classic books could be good reads as well.

Fun Post

The Weekend

This weekend I did not really do much. Weekends are the best part of the week, the entire week I look forward to Friday for the weekend. This weekend Iinjured my shoulder more so I went to the doceter and they said it was sprained and the I might have just pulled some muscles. Besides that this weekend has been great. I continued reading the Hobbit which I am enjoying. The book is getting much more interesting and much more fast paced. I practiced lines for my play which is coming up soon. Overall this weekend was great and I am already looking forward to the next one,

The Hobbit

The Hobbit So Far

Johnny D

While watching the movie of The Hobbit a few years ago, it instantly became one of my favorite movies. When we were assigned to read a classic and my English teacher Fitz said we could read The Hobbit, I was curious to see if the book was going to be as good as the movie. The book started off slow with a long 50 page starting chapter. The description and detail in the book was almost exactly like the movie. By chapter two the book picked up and I started to enjoy reading it. In the book the journey was beginning. Nothing that exciting had happened until the chapter “Riddles In The Dark.” In this chapter the Hobbit Bilbo Baggins got separated from his pack of dwarves. Bilbo gets stuck in a cave with a monstrous creature named Golem. To figure out if Bilbo will live or die they start telling riddles. In my head while reading this I tried to solve each riddle in my head before reading the answer. I was not able to solve any of the riddles but I continued reading. This chapter was one of my favorites because of how similar it was to the movie. The next few days in class reading was a little more difficult because if all the distractions but I still liked the book. Overall I have really enjoyed reading The Hobbit and I am excited to continue reading and see if I end up liking the book more than the movie.
