Fight or Flight

A moment where I fled when I should have fought is when I was younger. When I was younger I always used to get home from school and go onto my computer. This made my dad mad because I didn't get home and do my homework. So one day I got home from school and got onto my computer. I was watching YouTube when my dad told me to go do my homework which I responded: “I already did all my homework.” But my dad didn't believe me. So he took my computer and said I wasn't allowed on it for the rest of the day. I said that wasn't fair and said, “why don't you believe me.” He started to yell at me that I wasn't responsible and that I wasn't organized with my work. He also told me that I didn't have good grades and that I don't try. So after I got yelled at I walked away when really I should have fought. This is like when Odysseus went to the underworld and saw all the dead soldiers he let die. He must have felt like it was his fault and that he should have fought for them instead of leaving. I realized that I should have told him that I'm trying my best and that I'm responsible and I'm trying my best to get good trades. Even if I did fight I would get my word in it even if it lands me in more trouble. This is just one of the times I should have fought when I fled.

The Cyclops That Cried Nobody

Who the one-eyed Cyclops in my life is. Because I hold myself captive sometimes. I think that the reason I am my own Cyclopes is that I really challenge myself and don’t really want to escape sometimes. Other times I’m stupid and dumb and let myself go and other times I’m calm and relaxed. I think emotions are also the giant boulder blocking the way to get out of the cave. Depending on what mood I’m in I can open and close the door. These are all the reasons why I'm my own Cyclops.

What my flaw is that would take me down is that at times I can be hubris and not even notice. See this can be good and also has at the same time because I won't even notice if people are like yeah yeah I don't care. But it's also a good thing because I'm appreciating myself and my accomplishments, though times I'm not accomplished. Another thing that could take me down is a homecoming. Say I meet someone new and become friends with them and tells them things. They could say the things I told them and ruin something for me that is important. Also, you could be backstabbed by that friend or person and not even realize until the last second. But overall I think that these two things that could really take me down

Adam the fantastic man

Yesterday we had a presentation from Adam one of Fitz's friends. Adam the speaker talked about how he traveled the world just like the Odyssey. Adam has us do an activity where we had to talk to a newly developing country and help them out. My group was the group to help out. We had 10 minutes to talk to our table and come up with a plan. Our plan was to help out the country in need by giving them food, water, shelter, and medicine. This was not the case with the country because when we got there they refused all our help and flung us off. This caught our group by surprise because we were just trying to help. After about 5 minutes we were still offering our help and kept refusing. At that point, our group just got up and left because they didn’t want our help. After the game had ended we had to read our group's instructions, ours said that we were a wealthy country that had lots of resources and medicines. Since we were a weathered country we didn’t really have allies so we went to help a poor country in need. What we could have done better was approaching, because we kinda barged in and said do u need help. When we could have gone in asked what they were doing and offered to help out. We were hubris because we were very confident going into when we shouldn’t of. After we read our instructions the poor country had to read there’s. There’s said that they were a poor country and that before many rich and powerful countries have taken dominance before. Their objective was to build a monument in memory of freedom. Since they were dominated before they rejected all the help from the wealthy country because they were afraid. This is like what happened in the Odyssey when the gods come down and took the wife from the king and give her over to Odysseus. They just barged in and took her and gave her over to the one and mighty Odysseus because he won a contest.

Overall I really liked how Adam told us of his life traveling and showed us the game that we played. It really gave me a different perspective on how countries can be invasive and rude. Sometimes u have to not barge in but instead to take things slow.

The Fenn 9th Grade

Fenn a place to learn and grow

Love yourself before you love others

Time with friends is something all boys should have in there youth. Over the Fenn 9th grade year I have had many fun experiences. I have got time to hang out with my friends and also had time to get to know new people. Fenn is a great place to learn and grow, but there are also some things that Fenn 9th grade could work on.

At Fenn we get senior time after some study halls. But however we don't have study hall as many times because of sports teams. Study hall happens every Wednesday and Friday, we get 60 minutes of study hall to just do homework. Ever so often we get senior time after 30 minutes in our study hall. This is not the correct method, we should have 1 hour of senior time instead of one of our study halls. Time with our friends should be a necessary thing and we should get it every week. We should get senior time on Fridays because many times we don’t get it because of sports commitments. When we sometimes don’t have sports commitments should we get senior time which is most likely Friday. The teachers should talk it out and work at it so we get more senior time.

Another idea is that we should meet with our committees more often. Our committees are assigned to us which we get at random. This year I was assigned to the yearbook committee, I really like the committee and think it’s a lot of fun. When we had our first meeting we talked about what the yearbook would be like and how it would work. But the thing about this is we only get to meet every month. We the students should be able to meet with our committees more often, because we signed up for them and they are lots of fun. The committees should meet every two weeks or so because we need to talk about what we are doing. We should have a set day every two weeks or so to meet and come up with a plan for the committees.

Overall I think that the 9th grade is a place to learn and come up with new relationships for friends. Me I would of never talked to Ben Cook because we aren't in a single class together, but this year him and I are in a few and have become friends. The 9th grade could be doing better, but overall the 9th grade program and a fun and exciting experience.
