The NFL draft is coming up and there is a lot of talk about who should be picked higher, Zach Wilson or Justin Fields.

At the beginning of the season Zach Wilson wasn’t projected to be a top pick, but he had a great season at BYU and is now projected to be a top 5 pick in most mock drafts. Chris Simms even ranked Zach Wilson as the number 1 quarterback in the draft. Ahead of Trevor Lawrence who has been the unanimous number 1 pick in every mock draft since the beginning of the season.  Zach Wilson picked apart defenses throwing for 3,692 yards (3rd in the FBS), 33 touchdowns (also 3rd in the FBS), and only 3 picks in 12 games this seasons.  Zach Wilson is also a great runner and ran for 254 yards and 10 touchdowns. Zach Wilson had great stats and lead a BYU team that wasn’t supposed to be that good to only one loss.

Justin Fields had a great season in 2019 leading Ohio State to the college football semifinals. He followed up his great 2019 season with another great season in 2020. Justin Fields threw for 2,100 yards, 22 touchdowns and 6 picks, but his stats are misleading because he only played 8 games including the college football playoffs because the big ten started their season later than other conferences. Justin Fields seemed to be a lock to be the second quarterback picked in the draft, behind Trevor Lawrence, but a bad big ten championship game against Northwestern hurt his cause. He was 12-27 for 144 yards, 0 touchdowns and 2 picks against Northwestern. After this game, questions were raised about how good Fields was, and all of a sudden he was no lock to be the second quarterback picked.

Zach Wilson and Justin Fields are both amazing players who have bright futures in the NFL and we will have to wait and see who gets picked higher.
